Young Viticulturist of the year
The prestigious New Zealand's Young Viticulturist of the Year Competition is held to find a National Viticulture representative to compete in the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition and to celebrate the young talent in our region. The Hawke's Bay regional 2019 competition will be held on Thursday, 13th June at Te Awa Estate Winery.
Winners of the regional event will go on to compete in the National Final at the Bragato conference in Marlborough.
Competitors will vie for the coveted title of Young Viticulturist of the Year annually earning the right to compete at the Young Horticulturist of the year competition.
Who will represent Hawkes Bay in the Bayer New Zealand Young Viticulturist Of The Year competition for 2019?
Congratulations to Nick Putt from Villa Maria for becoming the Bayer Hawke's Bay Young Viticulturist of the Year 2019.
Also congratulations to Douw Grobler from Trinity Hill placed second and to Sarah Hunt from Villa Maria for coming third!
The day also incorporates the Hawkes Bay Silver Secateurs competition and “Grape Race”.

The industry recognises that grapevine pruning is an integral management practice required for quality wines. The competition has been developed to encourage a high standard and to recognise the skills of pruners. Competition will be held on Thursday 13th June 2019, TE AWA ESTATE VINEYARD, HASTINGS.
