Sub Regions

Mountain ranges, wide river plains and a curving pacific coastline has given our soil a diversity that shows itself in every one of Hawke's Bay's 38 wine varieties.

Hawke’s Bay’s reputation for outstanding quality across a wide variety of wine styles comes from the diverse landscape of the region, which can be loosely divided into five unique growing areas.

Although all areas benefit from long sunshine hours and the cooling maritime influence, the diverse soil types and microclimates of our sub-regions lend themselves to an interesting variety of wines of exceptional quality.
